So does anyone here share my beliefs?
I personally believe that there IS some type of "god," if you will, a divine force/presence/creator. But I don't pretend to believe in anything definite... I can't. Maybe it's like the Christian concept of God, maybe it's not even a single/sentient being.
In a nutshell: There's something out there but I have no idea

Kind of. I consider myself a strong agnostic; I believe it's impossible to know if there is a divine source, but possible to have faith, of course.
I have no idea though, I find it kind of hard to believe there's nothing out there, but I haven't a clue who or what is pulling our strings.

I believe in some sort of "god" mostly because I can't figure how the universe came into being. I know about the big bang and all that of course, but I haven't heard a satisfactory explanation as to wear it all started. This may simply be my mind being unable to wrap itself around the concept of "forever" and "always" and "infinite," and that doesn't necessarily mean it needs a god, but I just feel more satisfied believing it did take one.

Agreed. I have no idea how we came to be here, and I'm not satisfied with theories existing. It would be so much easier to believe a creator made it all, but that bring up the question: If X deity made the universe, where did X deity come from?

and that honestly comes down to "magic," for me, basically. I hate to admit that I need to resort to that instead of accepting the mystery, but I do.
And isn't that the basis for all religion anyway? That humans just can't conceive of no beginning, nothing, forever, infinite?

Pretty much. Religion baffles me.
And "magic" is the best answer I could ever think of either. =/

organized religion is funny. I was sitting in church this past weekend (i'm apparently catholic) and we had to chant these prayers and stuff, and i was like, "What exactly is the difference between this and a cult?" my mom jabbed me in the ribs. I laughed.

I laughed. you see, that's what I hate. The repetiveness of churches and their "practices". Why not just believe what you think instead of having to recite these schmansy-fansy prayers. When I pray, I say what's on my mind, not "Our father, who art in heaven, hallowedeth be thy name"

exactly, and i can't seem to make that clear to my mom. I told her that if i ever felt the slightest desire to pray, i could do it at home. I'm fairly sure that God isn't going to ignore my prayers if i decide to pray at home rather than driving to a 2 million dollar building where you're guilted into donating money, singing really lame songs and eating bread. I understand the whole tradition of it, but seriously, i think that once a year would be enough. There's absolutely no point in it. If you really want to learn about the bible, read it yourself and if you have questions, sign up for bible study or something, but being as i could care less about the bible....

I don't call myself a Christian but I do believe in God and Jesus and salvation ... so I guess I'm just a believer. People have told me I'm the left end of the right wing, because I have basic Christian beliefs and principles but I have a lot of other beliefs and thoughts as well.... So I somewhat agree with you guys, but somewhat not. Does that make sense?

I get what you're saying. Basically you don't follow any organized religion really, but you believe in the Christian God and salvation through Jesus, right?
I think that makes more sense than organized religion really... there's just so many different sects and it's all been manipulated and changed throughout the years that regardless of the truth of the original bible and it's possible divine origins, what we have today is basically entirely man-made, and merely based on what may be truth

You know what really gets me though? The baptists. not to be all hatey or whatever. But frankly, the one's down south piss me off. I had my graduation at one of the many ginormous baptist church's around Atlanta, and it pissed me off because we've renamed this place '6 flags over jesus'. why? It's a 17 million dollar building. And it's freakin HUGE! On the inside they have wall scrolls of people in africa starving in stuff. I'm like...why not...you know...HELP them. ::rolls eyes::....meh..

I get what you're saying. Basically you don't follow any organized religion really, but you believe in the Christian God and salvation through Jesus, right? precisely. that's pretty much what i think. so much of the man-made part of religion contradicts itself and it's so confusing, i just don't get it at all. ~ baptists kinda piss me off too. i tried going to a baptist church once, just to 'try it on', and i couldn't stand it.... they act all zealous while people are watching them and then turn around and are as complacent and worldly as the next person ....

I'm a baptist. Well, I go to a baptist church, that is. OH wait! I forgot! Our church took baptist out of it's name to be more seeker-friendly. I think the church is schizophrenic (sp?) really. I really only like the church for my youth pastor and his wife and that's it. But hey, going to that church gives us some thousand dollar discount from our tuition at school, so that's a plus.

^^^ Wow, that's precisely the way the Baptist church-school worked that i tried going to, you got a discount if you went to that church...
Might I ask where you go to school?
