Major Rant/Depressed-ness

Well, I have sort of good news.
I found out exactly why I was wait-listed at Colgate:
Money.
I have a lot of need I need met, and 33% of accepted students are paying the bill in FULL (go look at the tuition; these families must be loaded), and since it's so competative, they basically just went down the list of need, and I was at the bottom.
It's supposed to be need-blind, but this year they suck. Had it been last year, I'd be in.
So in conclusion, I'm fully, even overly, qualified, academically.

Also, most of my class is wait-listed too. Both the valedictorian and salutatorian are wait-listed at Harvard and Yale (and let me tell you, the val. is a complete shoe-in at an ivy league). So, it really *IS* just the most competative year ever.

So I feel great. I got accepted at Bucknell! And I AM as smart as I thought! ^_^

I agree! Now I don't have to re-evaluate my entire sense of self lol

Except I'm really mad now, cause they DO say they're need-blind all the time, and that's one of the major selling points for me and a lot of other people. If I'd known they'd be choosing based on who can pay, I'd have applied to more colleges just in case. it's really shady

Ironically, the average freshman aide package at colgate is WAY higher than at Bucknell. So were all the other applicants to bucknell like idiots or REALLY poor? I dunno lol. Oh well; at least I'm safe.

And the lady advised me to call like once a week at least to show interest, since they choose from the waiting list based on interest, mostly. But I dunno if I even want to now, if I DID get it....


But yea, I feel SO good that it's not me, lol. She said that I would have been accepted without a second thought if this had been a year ago.

i applied at one college that i knew i'd get into because i don't have high hopes...plus i'm poor....and i don't know what i want to do with my life yet
