So, if you know it, what were some other names your parents were thinking about naming you?
I'm Colleen Jaclyn Haukaas. Had my mother had her way, I would be Jaclyn McGregor-Haukaas. Had the parents stuck with their original idea, I would be Emily Jean Haukaas. Thank god they didn't. Had my uncle had a say, I'd be Hortence Blanche Haukaas. 0_0 Had I been a boy, I would have been John Murray Haukaas.
In other name news, I think I am going to go by Colleen McGregor later in life. Haukaas is a silly name. No one can pronounce or spell it, even me. I keep typo-ing it as Haukkas. Or Haakaus. Plus I always get the squinty eyes when asked the ethnicity of Haukaas. Yes, I'm aware I don't look remotely Norweigan. I don't need the lecture.
So, would any of you ever change your names?

just out of curiosity, how IS Haukaas pronounced?
my dad's name is Eugene, and he claimed that he wanted to name me Eugenia, but I think (hope) he was joking.
I don't particularly like my name, but I can't think of anything better to change it to, so I will probably just leave it alone.

o.o Good question. We pronounce it HAW-kiss, but that is probably wrong. Most pronounce it HOW-kiss until I correct them.
I can't think of anything better to change my first name to either. I'm open to suggestions though. =P

We called my grandpa Mr. McGregor, as there were wild rabbits living in his yard. Except, he didn't slaughter them. He fed them. My grandma stopped feeding them after he died two years ago (omv, two years to this day 0_0 Holy coincidence, batman) because they were "Mr. McGregor's rabbits". Man, those were cool rabbits.

Apparently, my parent's name choices changed by month, and "Laila" wasn't even one of them...no one knows where it came from, heh. If I were a boy, I would have either been Jeremiah Evan (I HATE the name "Jeremiah") or Alexus (0_0) Scott. But I wasn't a boy...the original name choice was Sarah Chloe-Noelle (0_0!!) and then I think closer to the time I was born it was between Arielle Maria and Lauren Kara. But I'm Laila Kaci. I guess I kind of like my first name...but I HATE my middle name. I have no idea what I'd change it to though, had I the choice.

o.o I'm glad they stuck with Laila.
I have two girls who have been in most all of my secondary classes, it seems. Colleen Michaud and Jill Harris. I always get grumby because I dislike having another Colleen around. But then I am thankful, because my parents had "Jill" near the top of the list for me. Jill Harris and Jill Haukaas? I think not.

Actually...I just found out the other day that there's another Laila at my school. First time that has ever happened. Her name is spelt differently (Leila), but her last name is Daniels. Thankfully, she's a Freshman, so I only have the same PE period with her right now, and it's rare that upper class and lower class PE are in the same room during roll call.

Colleen Michaud is the only other Colleen I've ever met. I dislike her only for that reason, even though she's, like, the nicest person I've ever met.
I never had classes with her before because she's a townie and I am not. Then she was in French Immersion, and I was not. But now we have band, english, and biology, because apparantly they can be mixed together. >.>

duuuude I feel the same way... met the sweetest girl, but she's jay's gf... rawr >_<
And she plays ultimate.
But she's also attending Colgate... so that might justify not liking her haha
and to remain even remotely relevant, 2 of the main names my parents considered for me were Meredith and Laura. Someone suggested Whitney.... that was struck down immediately.
"Margaret" was the winner based on much disagreement and finally, "well if I die during childbirth, what would you name her?" "I'd name her after you."
and I dunno what I'd be if I had a penis. Possibly Glenn.
