Yes, that's right, a gay marriage thread.
So, let's have your views on:
1) Gays being legally married in say, a courthouse.
2) Gays given a blessed union in a church.
3) New York, and other such places that are now recognizing same sex couples married in places like Canada who perform same sex marriages, as no different than a heterosexual marriage?

1) I see absolutely nothing wrong with gays being legally married in a courtroom.
2) *I* don't see anything wrong with it, however, it's primarily the church's decision...
3) If I'm reading this correctly, New York is recognizing gay marriages as equal to heterosexual marriages...which would make it a step in the right direction.
I don't think the government should have the right to put a law on who can and can't marry who. In my opinion, this is a violation of separation of church and state, and if they want to outlaw gay marriage, they might as well outlaw interracial marriage too...

2) *I* don't see anything wrong with it, however, it's primarily the church's decision... Agreed. A church doesn't have to marry any couple they don't want to. Heterosexual or homosexual. You're correct. They aren't performing them just yet, but yes, step in the right direction indeed. Considering we agree, this is one awesome debate.

So, let's have your views on:
1) Gays being legally married in say, a courthouse. i think that's fine.
2) Gays given a blessed union in a church. depends on what kind of a church it is.
3) New York, and other such places that are now recognizing same sex couples married in places like Canada who perform same sex marriages, as no different than a heterosexual marriage? well hey if that's what they do and it's ok there, then sure.

Psh, GP had nothing to do with this. We needed a new debate anyway, and I've learned that some of my others are wildly unpopular.
As for the post above yours, I mean a blessed union in a Christian church for the sake of this debate. The church I go to most often performs them, (Yay Anglicans) and quite a few other churches are appalled by it.

What's wrong with that? 2. As long as the officiating religious leader is fine with it, it's no one else's business unless you are a guest. 3. Go New York! If you have to recognise other state laws, then you better well recognise the gay marriage ones.

Actually, in the Bible it never says that two men couldn't get married, just that they can't sleep together. but it says not to take on the unnatural acting together or something lol.. 1. If you really think about it...what? If you really think about it, it would be just as natural to some people as straight marriage would be natural to you. What exactly is "gross" about it?

i've really thought about it my whole life. I see a man and a woman holding hands and giving each other kisses, i think ,"awww how cute." i see a man and a man/ woman and a woman holding hands and giving each other kisses and i think, "Aww how cute." And being as i'm typically one of those woman and woman... But either way, what do people care what gays do in the bedroom. It's not like i sneak into my parents room or my neighbors rooms at night and watch them have sex. Why? Because it's none of my business what they're doing in there. For all i know they could have each other strapped to the wall in some strange ritual of sex and i wouldn't care. It's not my place to tell them what they can and can't do as long as they're both consenting and not hurting anyone. And guess what, it's the same whether you are screwing the same gender or not...
