The Actress
based on true events...
Once there was a young actress, about eighteen.
She could have won an award for the role that she played.
Her character was very much pretend,
But her peers couldn't see through her.
She was beautiful and had a great personality;
She loved everyone she was around, and was always in a good mood.
She gave her friends gifts, and was always there for them,
Secretly wishing they would do the same for her.
Every moment of her day was from a script.
At the end of the day, when she was all alone,
She would take off her mask and let the tears fall.
She would never let anyone see her cry.
She cried herself to sleep every night,
Yet no one could tell that anything was wrong.
She was broken-hearted, angry, and hurt.
She wondered if she never returned to the "set" of her "show"
If anyone would notice her absence and call to see what was wrong.
She never told anyone about this pretend life she lived
Becuase all of her friends were as fake as she was.
She knew that no one would care,
Less alone even notice if she left.
She decided that she'd had enough and she was going to end the pain for good.
She silently told everyone goodbye
And whispered "I will always love you".
Then she was gone, never to return.
