Ick, I injured my ankle semi-seriously a year and a half ago. I tore most of the tendons and ligaments, had an insanely large swelling (it never got back to a normal size, actually), and couldn't walk on it for almost a month. I was also feeling rebellious, and poor, and did not go to physio like I was supposed to, so it does act up.
Come cold weather like you get in the tundra up here, and you start to feel like an old man with a bad hip. I keep getting these shooting pains followed by a dull ache, and it hurts like a ***** to walk on.
So, anyone have some tips for a bum ankle? My gym teacher showed me a few strengthening activities last year which I do every day, but they don't seem to be helping much.
Also- Fun Fact: I got the injury by falling up the stairs at a friend's house.

uh, you should probably go get a doctor to look at it. [/obvious]. Even this late, there's probably some painkillers they could prescribe, or something. You should probably try to keep your weight off that ankle, but without a cane or crutches or something I'm not entirely sure how you would do that. Is it a muscle pain? I'm told icy-hot works pretty good on those.

magic bag? O.o my dad's ankle and knee sometimes freeze up so that he can barely move and he has to use a cane to walk, which made me think of it.
go to a doctor

It's like an ice pack, but a cloth bad with dealies inside and you can freeze it or microwave it for a hot or cold pack. I'll see a doctor as soon as I can. The walk-in clinic is kind of hectic right now, but I shall look into it.
